A woman especially, if she have the misfortune of knowing any thing, should conceal it as well as she can. (86)

haha.

My tabblo on Western Australia (see previous post) was chosen as Tabblo of the Day again, I’m very happy about that! I didn’t expect it at all because I don’t think I arranged the photos as well as I could have and I didn’t do any post-production on them, just took them straight-out-of-the-camera and uploaded them. Anyway, it’s good that people are introduced to Australia via my tabblos.

I can’t sleep and haven’t been sleeping well these days…I hate insomnia

Perth is a very expensive city, I was surprised because I had heard that Canberra is the most expensive city in Australia. The city is very quiet at night, even more quiet than Canberra!! I guess going there makes me appreciate Canberra more.
On 7 June we went to Fremantle to look at the markets and have fish and chips. The seafood is very fresh and delicious. We also went to the Little Creatures Brewery which is a cool place with nice beer. The seagulls at Fremantle are well- behaved compared to the ones in the Sydney fish market. They are not aggressive and don’t try to eat your food :) After lunch we went to Cottesole Beach, which is famous for the sunsets and a restaurant called Indiana House. The disappointing thing was they only open for dinner and the menu prices were too high for us. Walking along the beach waiting for the sunset was nice. I saw so many lorakeets, they were so loud! Three to four trees were full of them.
Rottnest Island was good but the trip there was horrible for me because of the huge waves and wind. I was very seasick on the 30 min trip, hanging on for dear life. We rented bikes and rode around, going to a lighthouse and just enjoying the landscape. The animals are not afraid of people and it was fun to see them walking around, eating, and sleeping.
One interesting thing was a bunch of yacht owners had a ‘protest march’ on Swan River while we were taking the ferry to Fremantle. They had signs that said ‘Save the Quay’ and there was also a police boat patrolling the river, making sure it was a ‘peaceful protest.’

I found these just now

“Now, in fact, I feel that the whole of history and civilization would be unitelligible to me if it were not for my belief in God. So true is this, that I propose to argue that unless God is back of everything, you cannot find meaning in anything.” ~ Cornelius Van Til, Why I Believe in God

and

“Gentlemen, there are only two ways of being religious: one way is to try to put God in our debt; the other is simply to acknowledge the greatness of our debt to God.”

[Thomas Chalmers and the Disruption by Hugh Watt, p. 35]

Today as I was eating lunch, I watched one of those talk shows and found it ironic that the previous week the host invited people who were living a Freegan lifestyle to talk about going through the garbage to get food and furniture but today it was about how to “live well” by inviting a very rich party planner to talk about folding your sweaters to look like ‘merchandise,’ keeping presents such as champange and scented candles in stock, and forming different shape ice cubes for serving different drinks. According to this person’s mentality, don’t save up the good stuff until you die so that others can use it. It seems so extreme, isn’t there a balance between these two different kinds of lifestyles?! I wonder what other viewers think when they see these conflicting views on ‘how to live life.’
