I finally got to watch the movie Miss Potter tonight and it was pretty good, but since I already knew the story it wasn’t very exciting. The film was beautifully done and many parts of it reminded me of Anne of Green Gables. For example:
- Miss Potter and Millie are strolling along this green avenue which reminds me of the scene where Anne and her teacher are walking down a lane, and where Diana and Anne are strolling hand in hand long a pretty path.
- Miss Potter says goodbye to Norman at the train station also reminds me of Anne saying bye to Gilbert at the train station.
- Miss Potter working frantically at her desk writing and drawing her stories reminds me of Anne working on her stories
The costumes are also quite similar to Anne of Green Gables because they are set in the same time period. In addition, both Anne and Millie wear ties, which I guess signifies their independent ‘feminist’ streak. The movie has some scenes set in Hill Top, and I’m glad I had the chance to see it in real life
