Two kinds of cockatoos–Galah (Rose-breasted) and Sulphur-crested–they are pretty, but the sulphur-crested ones are so loud. I also heard you call someone ‘galah’ if you think them foolish or idiotic:P

And a lot of women talking has long been known as a “galah session.”
I love the birds, but you’re right, they are noisy.
