I stayed at Rosebud Cottage in Haworth and I really liked it! The house was built in 1750 and is run by Caroline and Adrian–they are very friendly and nice. I stayed in the Railway Room which has many wall decorations related to the steam railway and trains. The bathroom was quite big and what I liked was the fact that you could choose from a collection of DVDs to watch in your room. I choose The Brontes and Wuthering Heights since I was in Bronte country after all:) Wuthering Heights (1992) stars Ralph Fiennes as Heathcliff and Juliette Binoche as Cathy/Catherine. I saw the tombstones used in the film at the Bronte Parsonage Museum. I was so tired that I feel asleep while watching the DVDs though and climbed into bed around 9 pm. It was a pity that it rained the two days I was in Haworth which made it difficult to walk around a lot. I discovered that there is a path behind the Museum that leads to Bronte Falls and Haworth Moors. It would have been great to walk there but I had no time and the weather was not good.
This year is the 40th anniversary of the Keighley (Pronounced Keith-ley) & Worth Valley Rail and today (10 July) was special because the Duke of Kent was paying a royal visit to the railway. He has his own train and the Ingrow West Rail Museum was closed for a few hours because of his visit. I found out that movie version of E. Nesbit’s The Railway Children was filmed at Oakworth Station. The train I went on to Haworth was a Steam one and on the way back to Keighley it was a Diesel one. Another note: Damens station is the smallest station in England.
